In addition, small class sizes give you the chance to work one-on-one with your faculty and benefit from their personal mentorship. And they will advise you on research projects and study-abroad program options to broaden and contextualize your learning experiences.

What You'll Learn in the African and African American Studies Program

The BA in African and African American Studies helps you build a strong knowledge base within a variety of subjects including: history; English; music; psychology; sociology; political science; geography; French, and economics.

You will complete research and service projects on campus and in your community while also presenting work at academic conferences and events, such as the Black Expo Summer Celebration. 

You can complete your African and African American Studies bachelor’s degree program in four years of full-time study.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per Indiana State's transfer guidelines.
